Applicant: Internet Scams: How to protect myself?

How to prevent and avoid being scammed

Every day our team inspect content on the platform and regularly monitor suspicious behaviour such as sending multiple messages within a short time frame or performing many actions on the website at once.

We remove users from the site if we discover that they have breached any of our website usage conditions, or if we believe that they pose a safety risk to our community. We have a zero-tolerance policy for scamming activity.

Remember that your reports (https://yoopies.helpdocs.io/l/en/candidates-my-account/how-to-report-a-profile) are very valuable to us and help us keep our community safe!

However, in order to protect yourself from scams, you should pay attention and follow some precautionary steps :

  • Avoid to contact people outside Yoopies. Use the Yoopies messaging service, rather than Whatsapp or other messaging platforms, which has been created to protect you and your personal information.
  • Protect your contact information. Do not provide your email address or phone number anywhere on your profile, ads or messages.
  • Protect your personal information. Do not send/write your personal information, your CV or reference . You will be able to show all the information during the interview.
  • Do not click on links or open any attachments. Scam profile use to send messages often tell a story to trick you into clicking on a link or opening an attachment to steal your personal information so please don't click on links or download file. Some links may take you to a spoofed website that looks real but isn’t, so remember to trust only official channels. For example the scam profile can ask you to click on a link to do a Background Check

  • Never accept overly attractive payments or payment in advance. Pay attention to the proposal and don't let yourself be attracted by fantastic' or over-promising offers that can hide scams.
  • Only exchange information with an employer residing in your country. Pay more attention to the employers that contact you from another country, some times scam profile use to geo-localise it to a different country.
  • Choose a public place for the first meet. When you first meet the family / individual, choose a public place.
  • Secure payment. Use our online booking system which guarantees a secure online payment for your services, it will be automatically on you bank account after 48-72h.

Please make sure to keep your information safe and to report every strange message or user.
